Principal's Welcome
Dear Parent,
Thank you for your interest in Kilbroney Integrated Primary School. It was in 1998 that the school transformed to integrated status although there was a school on this site from1969. It has always been our tradition to welcome children from all backgrounds, faiths and abilities. Our approach is child centred, catering for the needs of the whole child.
The school provides a bright, spacious learning and teaching space for both staff and pupils with the original school building having been extended to cater for our growing enrolment. The school’s setting within a walled garden in close proximity to Kilbroney Park, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains provides wonderful learning opportunities. The school grounds with its old stone wall, garden area and pond is also a marvellous resource.
Kilbroney Integrated PS is a friendly, welcoming and vibrant school and I am confident that if you decide to entrust your child into our care, you will be very happy with the educational and pastoral care environment we provide in this school. The information contained on our school website and prospectus will inform you in making this decision. However, we would encourage any prospective families to arrange a tour of our wonderful school and to meet the staff. Only then will you be able to fully appreciate and experience the welcoming family atmosphere, the enthusiastic children, the friendly and hard working staff not to mention our vibrant classrooms and our fabulous outdoor learning spaces. Please feel free to contact myself or Yvonne in the school office to arrange a visit or look out for our Open Day which takes place every December.
In Kilbroney IPS, it is our aim to make learning a fun experience for every individual pupil in our school. We value each individual and celebrate their strengths and achievements. We offer a safe, happy and caring environment and aim to help our pupils reach their maximum potential whilst preparing them for their future educational experiences and careers. We want our pupils to leave Kilbroney IPS with confidence, knowing their self worth and with the social skills required to be confident contributors to society.
We value parental interest and support here in Kilbroney. We work in partnership and collaboration to ensure each individual child reaches their potential. We collaborate with our parents in many ways such as through Parent/teacher meetings, parent information sessions, our PTA, through our Seesaw app as well as our social media platforms and website page, parent representatives on the Board of Governors and through invitations to school events and services.
In Kilbroney IPS, we are fully committed to providing high standards of education to all our pupils using a broad and balanced curriculum. We are a self reflecting school, which means we will continually self evaluate our teaching and learning to ensure that the curriculum provided is appropriate and continues to raise standards of achievement.
We are proud to be an Integrated school and in September we will be celebrating our twenty fifth anniversary. We are so very proud of the diverse school population that we have. We are a Christian based school that aims to create an environment where those of all faiths and none are respected, acknowledged and accepted as valued members of the school community. Every religion, tradition and culture are respected, nurtured and celebrated here in our school. In choosing Kilbroney IPS, you are choosing a school who are committed to the core principles as stated in the Council for Integrated Education Statement of Principles. This means we are committed to Equality, Faith and Values, Parental involvement and Social Responsibility.
