P6 Viking Adventures in Kilbroney Park
4th Jun 2021
Primary Six had a wonderful day out yesterday. We went to Kilbroney Park and met with Mrs Liz Farnan (Environmental Educator) for an outdoor Viking workshop. We had a rune treasure hunt and decoded the runes to reveal the hidden message. We learnt how Carlingford Lough got its Norse name and how Vikings would have used natural materials to dye wool to weave cloth. We also made Viking pendants from air drying clay and began the construction of a Viking long house wall using a waffle technique.
