Eco Assembly with Newry and Mourne Council
10th Apr 2025
This week, our school was delighted to welcome Patrick and Sian from the Newry and Mourne District Council, who delivered an inspiring Eco Assembly to our pupils.
Patrick and Sian shared valuable insights about the importance of looking after our environment, focusing on the 3 R’s of recycling: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. They explained how recycling plays a crucial role in protecting our planet, and even shared some fascinating facts — like how metals are separated from other waste using powerful magnets!
Our pupils were also surprised to learn that plastic is made from oils, which helped us all to understand just how important it is to cut down on plastic use and make environmentally friendly choices every day. The assembly also highlighted the impact of littering and how we can all play our part in keeping our local community clean and green.
A huge thank you to Patrick and Sian for their engaging and informative session. They have certainly inspired us to think more carefully about our waste and how we can make a positive difference!
