Principal’s Welcome

Dear Parent,

DENISEThank you for your interest in Kilbroney Integrated Primary School.  If your child is to join us for the first time, we welcome you and look forward to a happy and shared responsibility for the education of your child.  If you already have a child in our school we are pleased to strengthen the links.

Kilbroney Integrated Primary School is set within a walled garden on the Cloughmore Road, adjacent to Kilbroney Park, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and in close proximity to Calingford Lough.  In addition, the immediate school grounds and school garden provide a rich learning environment for our pupils.

Kilbroney Integrated Primary School has a long history of welcoming children from all backgrounds.  In 1998 the parents’ wishes were granted when the Department of Education for Northern Ireland formally awarded Kilbroney Primary School integrated status.   Parental support for Integrated Education is acknowledged by Kilbroney’s wide catchment area with children travelling from Newry, Warrenpoint, Hilltown, Kilkeel and Annalong.

As an integrated school we cater for children of all faiths or none.  We strive to promote an ethos in which difference and diversity are valued.

In Kilbroney Integrated Primary School we aim to provide a welcoming, attractive and stimulating environment which supports pupils’ learning and which celebrates their academic and non-academic achievements.  We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which develops the skills, concepts and knowledge for future learning and living through a child centred approach.

It is our mission that Kilbroney Integrated Primary School is a place where children are nurtured in a caring environment conducive to learning, so that they can become flexible, individual learners who feel valued and can develop the self-confidence and skills to become well-rounded individuals. Above all high standards of respect, self discipline and commitment are encouraged.  Everyone is expected to set personal targets and achieve their full potential.

It is important that the school is central to the community and therefore our aim is to ensure that effective links are maintained with local groups for the benefit of all.

If you require any further information or wish to arrange a visit please do not hesitate to contact the school.
